Litha Spells. Litha is a time to cast spells of healing and rituals of power and protection. We consider Litha to be an especially potent time of renewal. We cast spells acknowledging the reaffermation of our commitments and the renewal of our purpose. We also emphasize romance and love spells, with an eye on finding a partner through dreams or similar divinations. If we already have a loving partner in our lives, we cast spells to make our love stronger and to bring us closer. In advance of the actual day of Litha, plan on the purpose of your spells or rituals. You may want to include them all but that will take a lot of advance planning and preparation. This year I plan on rededicating myself to Wicca and after losing my beloved Princess Sweetpea to cancer this year, I plan on working health and protections spells for my baby Peanut. She has her own health problems and I think our vet needs a little assistance in getting her well again. I have listed a few spells and rituals that are appropriate for Litha and the purpose of the Sabbat for Love, Healing, Prosperity and Protection for pets or other animals. Just remember, metaphysical and healing lore information is for education, inspirational and entertainment purposes only. You and only you are responsible for the outcome of any spell or ritual you participate in. With that said, I will start with a Summer Solstice Spell by Abby Willowroot: Solstice is one of the holiest days of the year. At first light, (6:07 a.m. in Wichita, Ks.2009) take a tall white or yellow candle and a short black candle outside; light them to symbolize the longest day and the shortest night of the year. A flower-scented incense is good to burn while you intone the words below: Brother Sun and Mother Moon, Day is longest now. Energies of the brilliant Sun Aid all at work or having fun. Longest day, a blessing is, From rise to set supreme is the Sun. Fueling growth and passions bright, Strong and true is the solar light. Bounty grows and river flows, As Earth is warmed and lighted. Creative energy reaches zenith on this day of shortest night. Crops grow high and excitement grows, with each new ray of Sun. Ancient solstice, Fires burning, Honor the sun and feed the light. Druid, Indian, Norse and Celt all danced on summer Solstice, joyously felt. Solar winds and solar flares Wash away our hunger and our cares. Mighty Sun, King of warmth, Makes humans to frolic and bees to swarm. Keep this day in memory bright, To warm you on long winter nights. May the rays of solstice keep us warm, All through the year. The Sun has kissed Flower field and tree, The Sun is supreme. So mote it be. To Attract True Love You will need: Pink candle Jasmine incense Rosemary Light the jasmine incense. As you do so imagine the kind of person you want to spend the rest of your life with. This should not be a specific person but think of the things you want in a person. Say the qualities you want in your true love out loud as you light the pink candle. Then as you sprinkle rosemary over the flame, say aloud: These are the things I want in you A (man/woman) who is loving, loyal and true I ask of the spirits of all those above Send me my one and only true love Sit quietly and meditate, thinking of the person you want in your life. When you have the image completed in your mind, release the image into the universe and extinguish the candle. Following is a spell to open yourself up to accept love and it is easily incorporated into your Litha ritual. You only need a red candle and as you light it, say aloud: By Light, Air, Earth and Fire. I have the power I desire. To open myself up to the holy flame, without fear I took the pain, and without fear I am ready to taste the pleasure. Open up, open up my soul to the holy flame. May it see what my eyes may miss. My heart's desire and life long bliss. Let the candle burn for a few minutes as you imagine the person you want in your life. When you are finished, extinguish the candle. |
